91´«Ã½ Discusses Insurer Investments, U.S. Regulatory Response at Bank of England Roundtable
On Sept. 9–10, at the CCBS-Bank of England Workshop for Heads of Insurance Supervision in London, England, participants discussed several topics relevant to insurance regulators worldwide.
Nebraska Department of Insurance Director Eric Dunning, chair of the 91´«Ã½â€™s International Insurance Relations (G) Committee, presented on how the investment landscape for insurers has evolved and approaches U.S. state insurance regulators are taking to understand and respond to these activities, including the 91´«Ã½â€™s 13 Considerations and the Risk-Based Capital (RBC) modernization project, among other actions.

As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers. The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the 91´«Ã½, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate regulatory oversight. 91´«Ã½ staff supports these efforts and represents the collective views of state regulators domestically and internationally.
